E-Rickshaw Guard ("the app") helps a vehicle owner turn their own e-rickshaw's battery management system (BMS) charge/discharge switches back on over Bluetooth, including automatically if they detect the switches were turned off. This page explains what data the app accesses and why.
The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect only to the single BMS device you choose during setup, identified by its Bluetooth address. This connection is used solely to read the switch status and send the "turn on" command. No data from this connection is transmitted off your device, sold, or shared with any third party.
On Android versions older than 12, the Android operating system requires apps to hold the location permission in order to perform Bluetooth Low Energy scans, even though this app has no use for your location. The app does not request, access, read, store, or transmit GPS or network-based location data at any time, for any purpose. On Android 12 and newer, the app uses the "neverForLocation" Bluetooth scanning flag and does not request location permission at all.
The app shows banner and occasional full-screen advertisements, served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect an advertising identifier and related data to serve and measure ads, under Google's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can control ad personalization in your device's Google Settings.
The only data the app stores is the Bluetooth address and display name of the one vehicle you pair with, saved locally on your device. This is never uploaded anywhere. The app has no account system, no login, and no analytics of its own.
